El Portal Mobile Home Park Closing
Research by LSSR investigators and others has revealed a range
of variables - regulatory, political, socio-economic - that suggests
continuing reductions in the number of mobile home parks in urban
areas. As they are converted to other uses, some mobile home park
operations will move to other locations, probably in less urban
areas and in locations less desirable to developers or re-developers.
Other mobile home parks that cease operations in their current
urban locations will not resume business elsewhere. In both cases
but particularly the latter, the lives of residents are affected
and the changes can be extremely stressful, socially and economically.
