  • Social resilience to hazards, particularly related to vulnerable or high risk groups
  • Community social vulnerability assessments
  • Interpretation of weather advisories and warnings
  • Dissemination, interpretation and use of warning messages by mid-level stakeholders, including emergency managers and public officials
  • Long-term disaster recovery of households, businesses and communities
  • Pre- and post-disaster behavioral studies, including evacuation decisions of households, emergency managers, public officials and the private sector
  • Social and economic factors affecting hazard vulnerability and response
  • Human and social impacts of disasters
